Howard Wolowitz is a fictional character from the American television sitcom, The Big Bang Theory. Portrayed by Simon Helberg, Howard is one of the core group of friends alongside Leonard Hofstadter, Sheldon Cooper, Raj Koothrappali, and Penny.

Unlike his physicist friends, Howard is an aerospace engineer and holds a master's degree from MIT. This often makes him the target of lighthearted jokes due to his lack of a PhD. Despite this, his engineering skills are highly valued, often utilized in projects for NASA and other government agencies. He frequently emphasizes his accomplishment of going to space.

Howard is initially characterized by his outlandish fashion sense, persistent attempts to flirt with Penny and other women, and a close, often overbearing, relationship with his mother, Debbie. As the series progresses, he develops more mature relationships, culminating in his marriage to Bernadette Rostenkowski, with whom he has two children.
